Porcini mushroom powder offers intense savory flavor that can be used in many ways. Also known as boletus edulis, this powdered formulation is ideal for adding to flour for breading chicken, veal and other meats. You can also stir ground porcini mushroom powder into sauces, soups and stews for savory umami flavor and as a thickening agent. Remember, a little bit of goes a long way with this finely powdered dried ingredient. We recommend using a 1/2 tablespoon of ground porcini mushroom powder for a risotto that serves four. Use 1 tablespoon in a meat rub to add depth of flavor.

    Cooking with Porcini Mushroom Powder:

If you love the taste of porcini mushrooms, then you will love OliveNation porcini powder. This delicious ingredient adds savory flavor when added to breading or flouring for chicken breast, veal or any other meat mix. Add a little freshly ground five peppercorn mix along with a little salt. Sautee meat or poultry in a little unsalted butter mixed with some olive oil for a delicious treat.

A little porcini powder packs a powerful punch! While it really depends on how much mushroom flavor you want or if you are using it as a thickening agent, just remember that a little goes a long way. The normal ratio is about three quarters flour to one quarter porcini mushroom powder for breading or drenching mixes. Try 1/2 Tablespoon in a risotto for four. Use 1 Tablespoon in a meat rub. It works wonderfully as a thickening agent too.
